As a qualified gas engineer, you will enjoy the opportunity to work installing, servicing, and repairing some of the 23 million gas boilers in homes across the UK. You will also be part of the journey toward a more sustainable energy sector with a Level 3 qualification in Air Source Heat Pumps inclusive to our bespoke MLP package.

By choosing to become a domestic gas installer, you are choosing a trade and career that will not only be in demand, but offers a diverse, challenging and ultimately rewarding work life.

At The Energy Training Academy, all our Domestic Gas Heating Installer (DGHI) New Entrants courses start with a steady, purposeful progression through the fundamental principles of gas central heating/hot water safety, leading to advanced areas such as heating design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding.

You will also be tutored and qualified in electrical safe working practices and renewable technologies.

Over your time with our experienced team of Technical Trainers you will follow a curriculum geared toward giving you the best foundation knowledge, skills and expertise required to be a success.

Our Managed Learning Programme ensures that all course topics are broken down into easy-to-digest sections. Our Technical Trainers are fully qualified to mentor, support and bring out the very best in you.

We understand that becoming a gas engineer can seem daunting, but with our team and comprehensive course content, you can be confident in your ability to succeed in your journey within this exciting industry sector.

In Short: 27 Weeks

Your course is designed to give you a comprehensive and hands-on approach to becoming a domestic gas installer. The Energy Training Academy’s DGHI New Entrants course includes thirteen weeks of in-centre training.

The thirteen weeks in-centre training consists of two-week blocks spread over twenty-seven weeks, between each two-week block you will work out with the Academy under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered Mentor to build your on-site portfolio (record of experience). Each two week in-centre block aims to develop the learner in a structured, purposeful direction thus allowing you to consolidate those skills developed in a real-world work placement supported by your Mentor.

Upon completion of the Managed Learning Programme (MLP), you will receive competence certificates for the different technical elements and an industry recognised MLP training certificate from LCL Awards.

Upon completion of the twenty-seven-week training, work placement and after your portfolio has been verified as complete, you will return to the Academy to undertake refresher training and ACS gas assessments for Domestic Core Gas Safety (CCN1) and Domestic Central Heating and Water Appliances (CENWAT).
